Oktober 2007- A New Beginning

So a lot has happened in the last three weeks. I will list them for you:
1. Jon satellited into the 10k event at Borgata, but had his KK cracked on day 2. Outlasted more than 1/2 the field, which is pretty good for his first 10k event;
2. Dragon chopped a $500 event at Borgata for a cash of close to $48,000. Go Dragon, you are so on tournament fire!!!!!
3. I haven't cashed since my second chance tourney;
4. I am concentrating a lot on cash games and my reads are getting better and better, yeaaa;
5. Taj in Atlantic City sucks for the following reasons: a. no organization in the poker room, for tournaments, at least; b. you are likely to get food poisoning from any number of food establishments there, c. the poker room sucks, d. it is dirty, e. most of the poker employees have a huge attitude problem. f. there is no such thing as a dealer 'controlling' the game, and more often than not, a dealer speaking understandable english, and g. best of all. apparently, it is possible to owe THEM comp dollars LOL (Jon has negative 2 comp dolllars with that disgusting zoo of a casino);
6. I am full time poker player/per diem attorney. No more 8-5pm, no more schedule locking me into hours of complete boredom and dullness, just 1000% freedom and the ability to make my own money in my own time;
7. Apartment not sold yet, but we did have a few interested buyers in the last month, so hopefully something will happen by the end of the year;
8. I AM capable of going on tilt against one player usually, that I am gunning for, and I need to work on that aspect of my game tremendously;
9. I want to start an electronic poker diary- not like my blog, but a separate poker diary in microsoft word, and i can put links to interesting passages on here;
10. There have been a ton of interesting hands lately- full house, calling w bottom pair to bluff on river, quads twice in 48 hours, playing blind at the Club's cash game (and earning), and making some monster laydowns. I will detail all of these later on.
That's all for now. Good money and peace,

Second Chance Domination

I really feel that I have been playing good poker as of late. I chopped the Second Chance Tourney last Sat night at the Borgata Open for a $6029 cash. Very exciting. I made a few great calls early on to build my stack and then flopped monster v. monster (my full house against obv trips), and my monster won.
Best call of the tourney: I had 4 6 diam in the cutoff. I just called b.c i saw the bb was prepared to raise and I did not want to get reraised off the hand. So I limped, small blind completed, and bb predictably raised to 600, blinds are 1-200. I called. Pot is about 1400 at this point. Flop comes out 6 8 9 with two spades. He bets 600. I put him on over cards, maybe a flush draw,so i call. Turn is a 7 cl. He checks, I check behind. River is the 4cl. He now ushes all in for 4600. POt is about 3000. That bet, after the check on the turn, made absolutely no sense to me. The river also put three clubs out there and two spades. But I could not see him hitting runnerr runner club and if he did, I think he value bets to get paid. Same rationale if he had a 10 or a five. The only thing he could have is top pair (which I beat) but then he doesn't check the turn. After analyzing the situation, I had about 7800 chips. I decided that he was completely empty and I called. He had nothing. He didn't even flip over his hand. He just said you got me, and mucked. Insane. That is the sickest call I have ever made in my life I think. It felt so so so good. People always trying to bluff me.
I played Ladies Event the next day and busted myself out after 2 hours. I was so tired. Lesson learned: when you triple your stack early and get tired, TAKE A NAP IN THE CAR FOR AN HOUR AND GET REFRESHED. Not worth it to bust out and then feel bad that you played less than stellar poker bc of tiredness.
On another important note, I found out that the client I do work for at my day job will no longer be a client. So therefore, I am going to build up my per diem legal practice, knuckle down and concentrate on poker and start accumulating some serious money.
I am so excited for the future.
Good money and peace,
Lucky C and her side kick, Ace.

Temporary Apartment in Brigantine- Emphasize TEMPORARY

Hey all. It is Wed afternoon. Many things are going on. Apartment still for sale. I am starting to do more work from a home office. We secured a 2 month rental in Brigantine, a beautiful beach town right outside Atlantic City, with our winter rental starting in November. First things first. Brigantine rental- our landlord is a whacko. The apartment sucks. Everything is broken, dirty, crooked, etc. I spent all day Sun cleaning and organinizing and decorating. Hopefully we can tolerate it for 7 more weeks.
Tourney results. I won the midnight madness at TAJ on Sat night. Weeeee! I am so excited about that. Nice to turn 100$ into $5400 profit. I also finished 8/70 in Trop tourney for hardly any profit. Still nice result though. Weee!
Anyone for french toast? Our landlady peered thru the sliding glass door and saw us sleeping on Sun morning at 7 am in the living room. This did not stop her from knocking loudly, opening the sliding door, peering in, stared at us sleeping to ask us if we wanted french toast. What a weirdo.
In any case, I am so excited about poker. I have two ladies' events coming up and several other tournaments that I am looking forward to.
Hand review. I played two sessions of 2/5 NL at Borgata this weekend. In one session, I deficited $600 and in the second session, I earned $1155. In my losing session, listen to this crazy table and the insane hand that won this pot. I have 99 utg. Table is pretty loose, so I decide to raise. I make it $30. 7 callers. BB says, I don't know what to do. So he opts to push for 180$. So I put him on overs, or middle pair. I guess mathematically I should call, but it was a tough session, and I did not think I needed to get involved in this spot. So I fold, two other players fold. Short stack with less than 100$ behind CALLS, which is fine (he had like 34 suited or something), and tight, weird fishing hat old man CALLS with J9 os. Flop is AA567. BB donk idiot has j8 off suit, all in short stack with 24 or whatever he had mucks and tight old man turns up j9, to win an $900 pot. Hello, welcome to idiot poker.
