DRAGON AND I MAKE TOP 8% OF SECOND CHANCE AT BORGATA

On Friday, January 26, 2008, Dragon and I were all set to chop the second chance at Borgata- it was 5 in the morning, we had been playing for 9 hours, but alas, it was not meant to be. Dragon had a few unfortunate hands, and finished 13th of 250, for a small profit, but a profit nonetheless. I made the final table and ended up sixth of 250, for a $2000 profit, but my exit was sour- my AA v. 77. What is really screwed up is that the table, at the start of the hand, began discussing a six way chop, but I really wanted to play for first. Plus, I see AA in the bb, what am I supposed to do? Agree to chop? Besides, the table was so incredibly weak that I believe it would have been negative equity for me to chop. So after I lose with the AA, the guy who sucked out with 7s, goes "that's what you get for being greedy." Nice comment fool, nice comment. Another display of classless poker non-etiquette at Borgata. The rudeness and non professionalism that is displayed at the table is very sad for poker.

Two hands from this tourney I am very proud of:

1. I had JJ early on. Starting stack was 6k. I had built up to 8000 right away with two pair. So I have JJ on the button. Tight player raises to 300 with 2200 behind. Bad player calls. I decide to just call and see a flop. Flop is Q 6 2 rainbow. Both check to me and I bet 900, 2/3 of the pot. The tight guy folds. The next player looks like he wants to fold and then counts a raise and throws out 2200 chips, with 3500 behind. Now, this is the information I have. He has no reason to raise a set here. He would never check a q on that flop and lastly, he has been dying to check raise me, becuase he has counted out a raise and chickened out a few times when I continuation bet. So with this information, I decide that he does not have a queen, and my best play is to push here and get him to fold whatever it is he has, which I believe might be 77s, but probably absolutely nothing. He folds, and says AQ is a good fold there huh? I just laughed and showed jj and I said, if u folded aq, u are not the player I thought you were. I wouldve bet my left arm that he did not have any q, let alone aq.

2. Second hand- I had 3 5 os in the bb. This asian kid, who has been playing maniac aggessive raises to 1800 with blinds 300-600 w 50 ante, 1 minute before the break. He raises utg. I believe he is raising w any hand bc he knows players want to go on break. I decide, without looking at my cards, I am probably goin to play a big pot here unless something happens to change my read along the way. It folds to me and I call with 3 5 . The Flop comes out Ah Kh 4s. All I have is gut shot. I have 11,9k in chips, but i really dont want to come back from break with 10bbs. So I check b/c im out of position to see what crazy asian will do. He fires 3k which is insane. I call because I believe he does not even have a pair and I can push on turn and he cannot call. Turn happened to be a five, giving me a pair with my gut shot. SO I push for 8900. Without a moment's hesitation, he goes I call (leaves him 1300 chips). I am like, do u have an Ace? He goes, no I have a flush draw and shows Q 9 hh. He missed, and I doubled up to 26k. Crazy hand.

I really feel like my tournament game keeps stepping up. I can't wait until I am playing higher stakes, bigger buy ins, bigger wins. I am very excited.

That's all for now, more later.

Borgata Open Update- and a New Word: Telepathetic =)

Lots has transpired since I last wrote. First of all- I am on my super A game in cash- winning $400 pots with 2nd pair because macho guidos think they can push the "girl" around- its quite fun! One guido, who tried to say the word telepathic when he sucked out against his opponent, and was attempting to joke about his clairvoyant abilities, says "Wow, I am quite Tele-pathetic" I almost died laughing. It was hilarious.

Anyway, the Borgata Open started a week ago. So far, I have played the $350, $550 and $1080 event. I bubbled the 350 when my AA got cracked by 77s, who was all in for no apparent reason, with 25 bbs, and I picked up AA in the big blind, so what can I do? Oh well, 7 on the river, gg me. Our roomate, Dragon, placed 70/1700, so he got paid which is good. I busted out of the 550$ w KQ v. AQ, on a Q hi flop, but I only had 9 bbs left, so I really had no choice.

In the 1080$, I believe I adjusted well to the play that I was experiencing in these tournaments, and was able to use my experience and all the arsenals, like defensive betting, check raising, limp reraising, etc at the appropriate times, to build a nice stack. I played a hand great, where I limped with K10 hh, a guy in late pos raised, I had a big stack so bb called and I called. Flop was Q rag rag, checked to orig raiser, who bet 1/3 of the pot. I called, and fired into him on the turn for 2/3 of his stack, and he folded. I was pretty sure he was empty. In any case, my good play and not getting unlucky for two days got me 43rd place $2100 cash out of 740 players. I busted out when I flopped top pr, turned top two and my opponent hit his draw on the river. It was so unfortunate, but I believe I played great.

Jon has been on sit n go fire. He has cashed in two out of two sng s and has been playing phenomenally in cash. Tournament time is so fun and exhilirating, its so great.

I also played with John Gale in the $1000 event. He was sitting next to me and I didnt even recognize him, lol. He was super curteous and nice- overall a great experience.

Lastly, I played in the Ladies Event yesterday and Jamie Gold's mother was the one who busted me. I raised with KQ suited, she called and bb called. My mistake was not pushing on flop of 6 9 10. It checked around, turn was Kc. It checked to me, I pushed in for 8 bbs and Mrs. Gold thinks and calls with what turns out to be the nuts (what was she waiting for???) and the other chickie folded. Then Mrs Gold says, why did you push? I tried to explain that I cannot fold top pair and a gut shot for 8 bbs, and I have to push and no reason for me to believe my opponents have qj, and if they do, I got unlucky-but my words fell on deaf ears. Before she turned her hand over, she says, I think we are chopping, I just laughed out loud when I saw her hand. She really is a horrible player. This is the reason I cannot have an in depth conversation with her about poker- she just doesn't think deeply about hands.

The series has been fun so far. We are going back tomorrow to play satellites and cash for the big events.

Oh before I forget- CONGRATULATIONS DRAGON- so awesome. Borgata held a $1000 satellite for Super Package- $2500, $5000 and $10k entry. Dragon placed top 6 out of 143 for a win into all three tournies ---- go DRAGON- I am so excited for you!

Anyway, good money and peace, will report more later on in the week!

Good New Year So Far...

Not much to report- turned 30 on Friday, weee, Happy Birthday me. Jon took me to a beautiful dinner at Kittachai, a thai restaurant in lower Manhattan. It was standard pretentious, but really good food- delicate and rich at the same time. Jon got me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a watch, exercise clothes, and these great sunglasses that I wanted.

I final tabled the 8pm on Friday, and placed 18th on Thursday. Other than that, I haven't had any big wins online, or anything else notable.

Next week is Borgata's series of events, I am super excited about that! So much fun. And I plan to final table a bunch of tournaments. And we are getting internet in the Jersey house, no more bs connection! SO cool!

Ok, I am super short stacked in Sun tourney right now which is why I can write my blog at the very same moment. I have one move- all in. Although I was down to 155 chips and now am up to 1220. One more double up and I am back in it 100%.

Good money and peace,
