A New Month at the Club.

Hey all! Happy almost 4th of July! I haven't written in a few days, sorry. This weekend, Jon and I were in Atlantic City. I placed 10 out of 106 for a small profit in Showboat tourney, 21 of 65 in another Showboat tourney, and I bubbled Borgata's Saturday tourney $340. However I made about $100 in cash and $150 in Blackjack. I hardly ever play BJ because that is a leak and I do not want my poker career to have any leaks. So between BJ, cash session and 1/3 cashes, I practically broke even for the weekend.
I came back late Sunday, and yesterday, I went to the Lodge for the Monthly Freeroll. My 4 out of 6 cashes last month earned me 2nd place on the leaderboard. The freeroll was not difficult but not easy. I was lucky enough to pick up a few hands and have players push on their draws where they did not hit. I ended up chopping 1st with another player for $500 a piece. Then I played the nightly $150 and we chopped five way for $650 each. First was $1600 but it did not make sense to keep playing with the blinds so high, 5k-10k and only 280k chips in play so it really was the right thing to do to chop. About the Lodge. There is such a cast of characters at this club that I feel they deserve some of this blog entry. So below, I have listed the characters (names have been changed to protect the individuals' identity) and a little bio about each of them (also slightly altered for protection purposes):
ILLEGAL KEN: The stories I have heard out of this man's mouth justify his name. He is funny, boisterous and pure entertainment. He is a brawly man, with graying hair, an easy going personality, but at the same time, super hyper. He definitely lives in the gray area of life. Most of his stories have included marijuana, or other equally lawfully prohibited substances, altering vehicle mileage/stripping cars, and most recently, rounding up some ten year olds and take odds on who would win: ten year olds v. 1 20 something year old. Pretty funny. All in jest, I am sure.
GRANDPA JO: This elderly gentleman, and a true gentleman at that, is one of my favorites. He is warm and friendly, and sweet and kind. He reminds me so much of my grandfather- he has similar features and the same generous nature that my grandfather did. One of the better players at the club, always at the Final Table and plays well. He has a trademark about him, but if I say, you will all guess who this is (if you have ever been to this Club).
FRANKIE SPHAGHETTI: Cool guy, nice, outgoing and loud. Seems to love life and make the most of it. Famous for his Italian cooking, especially for club members. Also famous for huge wins on scratch off lotto tickets =) (I think I just blew his cover).
G.I. Ron: An older man that I imagine served in a war somewhere, sometime. Has a strong personality and is one of the more aggressive players at the Club. He is at the club every night and is always at the top of the leaderboard. He has a funny laugh and a big smile.
L.L. Cool "White" J: This player signifies most of the young players at the club. Slightly ghetto, trying to hard to be cool, showing off a bit too much, but under the surface, they are good, smart players, and are just some guys trying to make some extra money. Usually this player is slightly more difficult to play against.
In later entries, I will add more character, but these are the stars in the cast of characters. They make poker interesting, to say the least.
Off the A.C. tonight, cannot wait to lay out tomorrow and relax!
Good money and peace,
Lucky C and Ace.
